I’d been wanting to do a post on fishing for quite some time. Marine life and reptiles often get overlooked because they’re not considered as cute as a fox or a bunny. This does not mean they do not suffer and they DO serve a purpose in the animal kingdom. There is a balance in nature that humans ignore. Even insects play an important role (i.e pollination)
I’ll have to work on another post about the reality of pollution and overfishing, but I’ll spare you of any more animal abuse photos for today. I adore Dan Piararo’s (Bizarro Comics) work. He does a fantastic job at pointing out the idiocy of animal abuse with a sharp sarcastic wit.
Fish feel pain. They’re sentient beings. (That’s right pescatarians: they’re NOT a vegetable.) So the idea that “catch and release” is in any way humane, is almost laughable. It’s like going hunting, shooting a deer in the arse, holding it up by its tail for one of those dumb “look what I caught!” photos and then letting it go.
Yes, fishing is so relaxing! Don’t ya just feel so at one with nature sitting on the dock of the bay puncturing sea creatures with a metal hook and tossing them back in the water like an accomplished boy scout? Fishing: Just don’t do it. #vegansofig

My supposed vegetarian friend fishes. When I complain about it, she just says ‘well we always throw them back.’ Sure....
