Let’s just talk about the facts right now:
1⃣  There are more animals slaughtered annually than there are people on this earth. There are seven billion people and roughly 58 billion animals are slaughtered for human consumption every year.
2⃣  It is physically impossible to feed that many people on the “mom and pop” farm ideal. To keep up with the high demand, livestock must be kept in cramped, factory farm conditions.
3⃣  Corn and soy are subsidized by the government. It is not good for the land or the animals, but because it is cheap, that’s what livestock are fed. 50% of American’s farmland goes to feeding livestock- not people.
4⃣  Because their food and living conditions make them sick, livestock are also fed hormones and antibiotics. The majority of antibiotics in this country do not go to people, they go to livestock. The animals are given antibiotics regardless of their health. According to the USDA, around 30 million pounds were pumped into American livestock last year.
5⃣  “Organic” Free Range” meat simply means a slightly higher quality feed. When it comes time to kill the animals, they’re all killed the same way.
6⃣  Cow flatulence produces the greenhouse gas methane, which is linked to global warming. A 1,000 pound cow produces an average of 10 tons of manure a year. Think about it.
7⃣ If you eat meat, you are eating what your meat ate: corn, soy, hormones, and antibiotics. Cooking your food doesn’t “just get rid of all of those things.”👉 You ingest what they ingest.
So the next time someone tells you that “their food is shitting on your food,” unless you’re eating a concoction of corn, soy, hormones, and antibiotics… they’re wrong. ➡ If you want to prevent animal cruelty, world starvation, global warming, and diseases like cancer, heart disease and type two diabetes, then go vegan. It’s really as simple as that. Veganism is not a belief, it’s a movement based on facts. #vegansofig
