Okay! So the holidays are coming up and it can get really awkward dining with omnivores. The holidays have always been difficult for me. My parents went vegetarian after I went vegan, and they have always been my rock, but I’ve never felt the same support from my extended family.
This year I opted not to participate in Thanksgiving because I really can’t sit through another dinner with thirty people eating a roasted dead bird in front of me. “Here’s your special meal, Amy!” It’s like I’m on an airplane ✈ or something. “No, it’s actually pronounced VEE-gun, not  Vay-gan.” I feel like I’m graceful 95% of the year, but there are some days where the irony of ”peace on earth” juxtaposed with a roasted ham, turns me into Hank from Me, Myself, and Irene. (YouTube it) 📺
I’ve always found Thanksgiving much more graphic than any other dinner with omnivores. You have to sit there with a friggin roasted carcass in front of you, and I just can’t do it any more! So until I find a vegan holiday dinner I can partake in, I’m sitting this one out.
That’s just me. Let’s hear your holiday stories. Anyone feel the same and can’t stand them? Have you found a happy medium? Or do you celebrate the holidays vegan style? Canadians are thanked out until next October, eh? Any international herbivores want to chime in. I’d love to hear what it’s like from anyone across the pond or over in Oz. #VegansofIG
